Where to gather data?
Data can be gathered from a variety of sources. Some starting points include court records, case file reviews, interviews or surveys with children and families, stakeholder feedback, partner agency records, data from budget requests, and court observations.
What data to focus on?
Understanding your jurisdiction’s QLR strengths is just as important as identifying challenges. You may be able to transfer, adapt, or replicate successful practices.
How much data is enough?
Data is actionable when you have enough of it to draw reasonable inferences as to the problems it identifies. Once you've identified an issue, dig deeper by looking at additional data until you have enough information to act. You're looking to get an understanding of the problem that is "good enough" to move forward, not a perfect picture without gaps.
