When assessing these outcomes, a CIP should gather data from a variety of sources, using available methods, including:

  • Interviews/surveys (with stakeholders, attorneys, case professionals, parents, youth, other involved community members)
  • Review of data/records (case files, agency records, court directives, standards of practice, budget requests)
  • Court observation

Those sources and methods should yield quantitative and qualitative data that demonstrates how the quality of attorney representation in your jurisdiction contributes to the following outcomes.

Note that these outcomes should be viewed in conjunction with each other and with other possible causes in mind. The presence of no single outcome should be taken as dispositive evidence of improved attorney representation in your jurisdiction.
