Providing quality representation necessarily entails understanding and following the ethical rules of the jurisdiction. There are some ethical issues that arise uniquely or differently for attorneys who represent youth. A child welfare attorney must understand the model of practice of their jurisdiction; how their ethical obligations might change based on the age of the youth; and the rules regarding conflicts and potential conflicts.
